Oscar Fashions Round Up

So how disappointing was last night's Oscar telecast? I thought it was boring. Fell asleep. Finished watching today-yep still boring. Of course there were some good moments but mostly it was a dull show.

Even the fashions this year were lack-luster. Where was the amazing bling? I'm a jewelry designer-that's what I'm waiting to see . There were some beautiful pieces-Amy Adams had on gorgeous emeralds & diamonds worth $1.35 million

Reese Witherspoon also wore
lovely green gems

I loved the antique looking diamond necklace necklace Nicole Kidman wore

I don't know the story of this necklace so if any knows about drop my a line

As for the dresses- few really wowed or horrified me. Some I had mixed feeling about. Here's my picks

My Favorites of the Night

Amy Adams
I loved the color and fit of this dress. I wasn't crazy about how the necklace laid on it-I don't think it flatters either the necklace or the dress. Loved the retro hair

Reese Witherspoon
Gabby said she looked like a "Barbie-in a good way"
I agree
She seldom gets it wrong

Jennifer Hudson
I'm not reading  too many positive things about Jennifer Hudson's dress.
I thought she looked great. Loved the color-although I thought it was orange -it's being describe as tomato red-I still think it's orange. I thought it was extremely flattering for her new skinny minny figure.Loved the hair

Hallie Steinfeld
This is how a 14 year old should look. She got it soo right

Sandra Bullock

My favorite gal, Sandy. She could have been wearing a paper bag & I would have put her with my favorites. But she wasn't and she looked damn good.

Natalie Portman
I loved the color of this dress and the fit was so flattering. Gabby couldn't even tell she was pregnant until she turned sideways. Wasn't crazy about th limp hair and I thought she could have used a bold bracelet.

Michelle Williams
Another I'm not hearing positive comments about.
I loved this dress. She looked amazing in it
I want this dress.
I would also like the body to wear this dress

Mark Ruffalo
Just because it's Mark Ruffalo
Alone
Without his wife in her weird one armed dress
Sigh...

My "What The Whats?" of the night

Cate Blanchett

Please tell me I am not the only one who hated this dress
All the reviews I've read are raving about it, calling it "daring".
I think it's just ugly from the waist up. Weird circle cutout, strange shoulders and what's with the chartreuse
beading on top of the other ugly beading?
As I really like Cate I don't want to be all mean-her hair and makeup look lovely and I loved the earrings

Melissa Leo

Looks like she sewed some of granny's doilies together and lined them with gold lame'
Her hair looks like a messy after thought.
Even the hot-mess behind her in the photo seems to be laughing at her get-up
To use her favorite word of the night I f#&*ing hated this !

Nicole Kidman

I didn't like weird structure of the dress, too many different designs with the beading and didn't like the shoes at all.

Busy Phillips

Busy is right, there is just too much going on here.
The brocade top,the big folded bow,the mermaid style, the tulle at the bottom.
Yuck!

My Mixed Emotions Picks

Helen Mirren
Thought she looked amazing but I didn't like the shoulders on this dress. Other than that-perfect

Scarlett Johansson
I loved the dress but that is what my hair looks like when I wake-up.
Not appropriate for an awards shows but fine if you're taking the kids to the bus stop.

Helena Bonham-Carter
I  actually liked this dress . It's Helena- did you really expect something main stream or subdued-my complaint is with the sunglasses-always with the sunglasses. She has should beautiful eyes
she should show them once in a while.
Check out the train wreck behind her- now that's scary

Marissa Tomei

I actually think this is a lovely vintage dress(I love vintage clothes) but she should have had it tailored better. It just didn't fit her well.

  1. I agree with many of your comments. I loved the dress that Jennifer Hudson wore. She has a hot new body so why not show it off.

I think Reese looked really "hip" and "funky". I loved it!

I didn't get Hellen's dress either. That big circle in the front threw me off.

I read that Anne Hathaway was PAID $750,000 to waer Tiffany jewelry for the Oscars. Oh poor girl! I wish someone offered me a fraction of that to wear all that bling. LOL!

  3. i though Jennifer Hudsons boobs were so weird but her body was rockin'
Amy Adams necklace over her dress didn't make sense to me. If you are wearing a drop necklace like that wouldn't it look better against skin not bright blue sequins
